Leo with Leo is the same sign twice, a conjunction by sign, and both signs have the same lord: the Sun. The sign is masculine, fixed and fire, and the Sun is in domicile there, the sign it rules. Domicile is one of the dignities Hellenistic astrologers used, so the lord of each Leo is at home in the sign they have in common. Saturn is in detriment in Leo, opposite Aquarius, one of its own homes; a concept the tradition names explicitly only late. Under sect, the tradition's sorting of planets into day and night teams, the Sun is in sect in a day chart. Whether a chart is a day chart depends on birth time. A conjunction by sign is coarse; exact degrees show how close two placements are. Conjunction is a one-chart idea, so comparing two people's Leo signs is an extension.
A note on “detriment”: the early Hellenistic texts note a planet opposite its own sign without naming it. The term is defined only in late and medieval sources, and scholars disagree on whether the idea was implicit earlier.

Reviewer's notes
Aspects/aversion by sign (Ptolemy I.13, I.16), dignities, genders and modalities confirmed; the block already says it applies a one-chart doctrine to two people's signs as an extension, which is this page's choice and not an ancient claim. Replaced 'domicile is the strongest dignity' (not a Hellenistic ranking; Ptolemy counted several dignities as equal). Added a note that detriment is a late-named concept.
