The Sun in Leo is in domicile, and the Moon in Cancer is in domicile too, so each light sits in the sign it rules. The two signs are adjacent, and Cancer is the twelfth sign counting from Leo. Hellenistic astrologers place that in aversion: the signs cannot see each other by any aspect. The Moon stands roughly 300° to 360° ahead of the Sun along the zodiac, roughly a late waning crescent near new Moon; sign distance is coarse. Cancer is a feminine, cardinal water sign and Leo a masculine, fixed fire sign. Because both lights rule their own signs, the tradition has no other planet to consult for either, and reads their houses and the Moon's phase instead.

Reviewer's notes
Sign-count configurations (Ptolemy I.13, I.16) and Moon-phase ranges (rechecked by arithmetic against the Sun in Leo and the lunar-phase angles) hold. Changed 'easiest' wording to Ptolemy's 'harmonious' where it appeared.
